Bingaman votes against photo ID Requirement in Medicaid and CHIP

Meeting today to discuss health care reform, the Senate Finance Committee defeated an amendment that would have required beneficiaries of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program to show a photo ID in order to enroll, The Washington Independent reports . New state laws take effect tomorrow (Wilton Bulletin)

Gov. M. Jodi Rell this week highlighted a number of new state laws that take effect Oct. 1, including significant new protections for victims of identity theft, increased rights for residents of nursing homes and an expansion of the “bottle bill” to require deposits on containers of water and flavored waters.
