What your phone app doesn’t say: It’s watching

Lookout, a mobile-phone security firm, scanned nearly 300,000 free applications for Apple’s iPhone and phones built around Google’s Android software. It found that many of them secretly pull sensitive data off users’ phones and ship them off to third parties without notification.

Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Identity Theft expert and author Robert Siciliano when he joined the McAfee Consumer Advisory Board. At first, I enjoyed talking to him about all things Boston, since I lived there for about 13 years. But man! This guy is on a mission!

City files counterclaim to ex-golf pro lawsuit

Former Fort Morgan Golf Course golf professional Vernon Harbart was terminated from his position last year for misuse of city property and theft, according to a response filed by the city of Fort Morgan to a lawsuit filed by Harbart in Morgan County District Court.

Suspected identity theft scam has been busted

MILPITAS - Three suspects have been arrested on identity theft charges by Milpitas police. During a parole search at a motel on South Abbott Avenue last week, officers discovered some credit cards lying on the table that didn’t match the identities of the occupants inside the room.
